I want ultimately to have most of my music (photos and films) in digital format for space and weight reasons.

The download seems to be in mp3 format. Ok, so I can listen to it on my phone – that's good BUT I also want to listen to it on my hi fi and in my car. How can I do that please?

I only want to use legal sites.

download the mp3 then burn as an audio cd using mediaplayer nero ashampoo or similar

You can use different devices to connect your pc to your hifi. The application you're using on your computer to manage music should allow you to stream music wirelessly. Then you'd need a streaming dac or similar (apple airport express) to receive the signal and play through your hifi.

Then you can get a device which converts the output from your phone to fm, and use your car radio to receive it. See here.

To be honest though, it would be easier just to buy the cd and rip an mp3 from that 😉
