I have a pair pof Manitou forks with post mounts, an IS caliper and a 160mm rotor…..

….is it possible to fit an adaptor that will make this lot work together???

    Any help greatly appreciated

yes – you need to find a same brand as your caliper mount IS to Post mount. v What brand is the caliper

I thought you would need to go to 180 but…. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13743

Be prepared to have to buy a bigger rotor to allow fitting.

I have two calipers I could use – a Giant MPH or a Shimano Deore

I think this is what I need, with a new rotor??

    any other thoughts?

dusty trail's suggestion: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13743 looks like the worng way round (ie. IS fork to psot mount caliper, which is the opposite of what I need), but would it work anyway??

Looks like the one I got when I swapped from IS to post with an old Hope caliper. +20mm on the rotor size confirmed I feel.

You will need to go up in size with the front disk – either 170mm (disc and adaptor from shimano) or 180mm – adaptors from Hope, Magura etc. I've got a 170mm XT disc and adaptor you can have, (or at least I think I have), lurking at the bottom of my box of bits. Let me know if you want them.
