How many people would need to be affected by a national news story before, it became statistically likely that, a member of this internet forum was personally involved?

    300?

Given the ‘six people away from…’ probability; not many.

Becuase in reality isn’t more like 4 people. Even less if you limit the major news story to things happening in the UK.

I suppose you need to define ‘personally involved’ – actually be one of those 300 people? Related to one of them? A close friend? On their christmas card list? Someone you’d recognise? Share the first few digits of your postcode?

For the purpose of the question, let’s say actually being one of the people or immediate family memeber.

I was skeptical about the 6 people thing, until I figured out it does work. Not for anyone in the world but some. Apparently I’m 5 people away from Keanu Reeves. Which means I’m 6 people away Rachel Weisz. Umm……..

I’m probably 3 away from Beckham (David for those who don’t know). 😐

You do realise that none of you are more than six people removed from me?
