A mate of mine was in a quite serious incident yesterday.

I phoned the hospital today, and apparently any info is password protected.

If I turn up to visit will I get to see him (presuming he’s taking visitors) ?

Visiting is different to someone ringing up as the patient shares the info he wants with you, over the phone the staff could be telling anyone. The only person allowed to know about his condition other than staff is him or people he has given permission to.

Yes is what is the answer unless it’s ITU as the often only allow family.

Going off my hospital, yes, you’ll get to see him. Password protection tends to be used to make sure that any information is given out to the right people, occasionally when the next of kin are unable to visit and have to rely on telephone enquiry.

My advice would be to get in touch with his family if possible and ask if it’s OK for you to visit.

Meh. I work in ITU/ICU and we don’t have any kind of family/next of kin checks on the door.

    Go visit at visiting time.
