First off thanks for all the help from all the friendly people that helped us out on here and all the advice from locals we met.
Specialy Niel from Alpine Bikes. Great trail advice and great of him to give us discount on a few bits we’d forgotten to take with us without even asking for anything.
You guys really are lucky to have all those trails.
Even the small amount that we encountered were great fun.
Seems you don’t have to go all that far off the beaten track to find fun stuff.
We even got to ride a trail that was still being built for the EWC this year and met two of the builders.
Thought we were going to get a bollocking but they were just wanting to know what we thought of it. 😀

Anyway here’s a few shitty snaps for anyone that’s thinking of heading there.

That looks like a good holiday.

Next time someone asks advice about visiting four corners of Scotland for a riding holiday, I’m showing this thread and postierich’s to prove you can stay in one place…

Agreed Matt, I reckon if you wanted a week’s riding in Scotland, the tweedlove week would be very, very hard to beat.

Going up there for 4 days in a few weeks, doing the Glentress 7hour thing on the Saturday & the ‘NaturalTweed’ ride on the Monday.
Looking forward to it,I just hope we get the weather we had on Tons Newton Stewart weekend 😀

What did you think of Gypsy Glen? I’m a local and it’s my favourite ride. Amazing descent.

The Gypsy Glen was good fun in a different way to everything else we did.
It was proper windy and bit’s of ice in puddles at the top though. 😯

Looks like a grand week, you got off the tourist trails didn’t you! Where’s that last one? I recognise all the others but I’m stumped

    Where’s that last one?

    Just below the one above.
Drops you out by the Hydro.

That’s ‘Daves Trail’ I think. A great little section a Peebles local built. Bumped in to him one time, nice fella. Starts near the top of The Fort.

Starts near the top of The Fort.

    Correct.
While you’re on coogan your directions came in very handy.
    Thanks again.

I only ever seam to ride the marked trail centre routes up there, but this is encouraging me to explore the more natural options, looks like a great trip.

Does that join back into the main fort descent just near the road by any chance? I think I know where it is but I’ve not done it, we always just come down the fort/big exit

It starts from a stone thing with travelers glen or something like that on it.
There’s two trails. That one is the one that’s straight ahead.

Yeah starts if you go past the start of the usual one if that makes sense. Also, if you go further past it on the fireroad and hook up the the start of the older one in the wood, that then joins up with this trail too.

I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing that I could place the area of the last photo by the trees and ground, despite not having ridden that trail :/

Recognise Zorro above, I took a right tumble in the gulley section yesterday, blaming the inability to see in the rain with specs on for that one.

Looks like you had a good trip.

Bit late to the party, but wow, those pics make we want to ride those trails! Looks like a lot of fun 😉

(really must try to get “Up north” this year, especially as i don’t think i’m doing an Alps trip this summer)
