    I know the rules say it won’t work but what’s the reality? Who’s tried it and did it shift okay?

    Doesn’t work – 9 speed chain is too fat to run smoothly. You just get a horrible grinding sound. Which is a shame as 10speed chains are much more expensive.

    I ran one for a week while waiting the next day delivery of a 10-speed. Not the slickest shifting but was able to engage the full range of a 2×10 set up and I`m still here to tell the tale.

    On my 1×10 setup it works fine. No grinding or odd noises. I’m also convinced it shifts better too.
