    you're allowed to spend c2w on multiple things, so I think I'd get a

    top line blood (3.5k)
    carbon road bike (1k)
    carbon xc bike (2k)
    lid, some beefy locks, some nice lights (£500)

    £550 CCDB
    £??? Fox Float36 RC2
    £250 Flows on pro2
    £1000 XTR Di2 (or whatever it costs)
    = £4250 or thereabouts but you can flog the original forks, wheels, shock for ~£500

    £250 Free agent Ambush (24" cruiser)

    £1100 Frame off the Dave Yates framebuilding course
    £600 race wheels
    Leaving about £800 to finish the build with middling stuff.

    I'd budget £2.5k on a bike that you'll still be able to afford like for like replacement of worn out parts with and put £3.5k into an ISA. The remaining £500 would be spent on my significant other.
