  • 650B forks, 26" wheels – any reason not to?

I’m thinking about getting some new Pikes, staying on 26″ wheels for now – waiting for the next batch of Cotic Rockets to arrive. However, if I do end up moving with the times and getting a 650b frame further down the line would it be an unwise move to buy 650B forks now and run 26″ wheels? What’s the difference other than a higher arch on the fork lowers?

Maybe slightly longer a-c on the 650b for the same travel?

Slightly slacker geo maybe but is that then counteracted by putting a smaller wheel in?

In any case the x-fusion vengeance is a 26″ fork that is marketed as being 650b compatible. Can’t see any probs myself

The offset will be wrong. Whether you’ll be able to feel that is a different matter, but sometimes just knowing that it is wrong is enough to ruin the fun.

And sometimes, it just adds to the fun…………

Its only like running 24 inch wheels on 26inch designed forks….

it’ll be fine – you wouldn’t notice that anything was ‘wrong’.

but, why not just stick with 26″ forks?

you really won’t have any trouble finding 26″ rims/tyres for at least the next few thousand years.

you won’t be future proofing anything with 650b forks.
