  • 3×9 inner ring replacement. New ring isn't quite the same (no recesses)

I’ve bought a new inner ring to replace the old one. Both deore 9 speed

But the new one is flat whilst the old one has a slight recess where it meets the cranks. The new ring will be slightly be more further out by about 1mm

Will this matter. I could stick the old one back on its not that warn (compared to the middle which was well on the way out)

OK that’s 1 mm further inboard

No I now conclude the new ring is a touch thinner and all will be fine

Is everything else the same?, is everything else the same or could the 1mm be made up elsewhere? Moving the limit screw might make up/accommodate the difference albeit with an increased risk of dropping the chain between granny and middle. Couldn’t guess how much more of a risk though.

    Edit-wish I typed 42 seconds quicker 🙂

    Cheers tracker

I still need to fit the chain which I’ll do tomorrow

But it all looks fine at the moment
