I have just come into posession of a multitool with a 2mm Allen key. I’m trying to think of anywhere on a bike it might be used. Am I forgetting something obvious?

Wee grub screws on some fork adjusters, and the tiny, stupidly-easy-to-roud adjuster screws on 11s XTR mechs

Sounds like fairly limited appeal then!

    Cinch crank fitting requires one.

2.5 or 3, usually. I came across a Nuke Proof set once that used 3 on one end and 2.5 on the other. Incredibly irritating things to fit/remove, those.

Pretty sure i`ve had to use a 2mm out on the road for the lockring on a Sram Red BB30 cranks?

More to the point, why hasn’t my multitool got a T30 on it? I need that for mech hanger and chain ring bolts as well as some pivot bolts.

Lots of people who don’t know the difference between 2 and 2.5mm! (25%)

Shoving in the hole to release the little pin that opens the hinge on Shimano brake lever bar clamps so you can actually get them off your bars without removing your grips because you rounded out the 2.5mm lockring bolt trying to use a 2mm allen key 😉

not sure if its been mentioned, but I guarantee that if a 2mm wasn’t on the multi tool, you’d end up stuck in the middle of nowhere, in desperate need of a 2mm. But because its there, you’ll never need it. 🙂

On most road bike brakes there is a 2mm adjuster to tension a spring to centre the caliper

I think one of the Di2 front mech adjustment uses 2mm. And Tri Rig brake adjustment too.

Throw the 2mm key away, then go for a long ride, in the wilderness, during bad weather, then you’ll probably find the thing on your bike that needs it.

Rear mech hanger on mine uses a silly small allen key … could be 2mm. Anyway the correct one is buried in my seat pack.

2.0mm is one of the sizes you need for adjusting mechanical Shimano disc brakes (2mm on one pad and 3mm on the other – go figure)

Lev is about the only other thing I’ve ever used one for.

Upside- a 2mm allen key isn’t going to upset anyone but the most gramme conscious weenie out there… 🙂

Ah, but it’s at the expense of a 2.5mm.

Lockout cap on xfusion RL2 forks uses a small 2mm allen grub screw if I recall?
