Anyone got any experience or thoughts of these? Was there a problem with the On One’s a few weeks back? Any feedback appreciated…
    Many thanks

I’ve had 2 sets of on-one wheels and I won’t be getting any more. I may be unlucky, but they’ve not been very good IME.

Heavy and not great quality (thankfully cheap though)

Thanks oddjob. Fulcrum seem to be good quality and have had good reviews, so that’s useful.

Don’t you fancy the Stans Crests with Hope hubs?

Would do for a top notch spec, but its for a rigid Scandal, probably with Deore for winter mud plugging, commuting and easier trails. Hence the 200 quid budget.

I’ve had the Fulcrum wheels on my inbred for the last twelve months and have been very happy with them. The quality seems good and they have stayed true. I paid £150 for mine though, if £210 is the going rate now then I might agree with tk46hal – for a few dollars more you could get a wheelset which would be lighter and offer easier servicing along with the ability to change axle types.

I’ve been running a pair of the Fulcrums for about 8months. Fine, except the rear hub has an on-going problem. There’s a wee screw-on pinch-bolt pre-load thing which sits just inside the lock-nut of the cassette (I think it’s something to do with converting the hub to 15mm or somesuch). Anyhoo, after a few rides it always works loose and the hub/wheel rattles in the drop-outs. Annoying, but easily fixed.

If you’re after *real* bargain-basement 29er wheels, there’s someone on eBay banging out new pairs of Bontrager ‘Ranger’ wheels. Shimano hubs, too. Not the lightest wheelset in the world, but for £65 + £8 postage, who cares?
