  • 29er ss gear ratio?

Quick question: what gear ratio should I start out with on an SS 29er? We're talking East Anglia here, so hills are few and far between.

Been using 2:1 (36:18) on my 26" bike which seems to work fine for most things.

    Thanks

The 'normal ratio' to start with is 32:18, and according to Sheldon this goves similar gear inches to your current choice. But sounds as if you may want something slightly higher for East Anglia? Based on your 26" ratio something like 34:18. Think I've confused myself!?

I run 32:20 but I prefer a slightly spinny gear on my 29er compared to my 26" ss, round my hilly routes.

Might be a bit spinny though for your East Anglia, but its a good starting point.
