    Hi
I am after a set of 26″ road tyres for my sons mtb to do his triathlons/Duathlons.
Cant afford a road bike for him so I thought some fast rolling tyres.
The bike it self is very light carbon 1 by 9 setup. (he is 9)
The wheels are stans 355 which are very tight rims, so folding tyres are a must, wire bead is dam near impossible to fit.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Spesh All Conditions or Continental Grand Prix, both 26×1.0.

Schwalbe Kojaks maybe? Little bit fatter than most but fast and light, and they have a little puncture protection to boot.

I ran a Schwalbe Durano for a while, light, grippy and not all that expensive. Mine failed at the sidewall though it could have been a one off. I’m going to try the Michelin Wild Run’r Advanced next once the weather improves a litter. It could be worth considering.

I ran some Conti 1″ tyres years ago, they were as good as the 700c equivalent.

    Thanks Chaps,
Some wire bead tyres in there though.
The Wild run r do look good.

I’m running wild runr (not advanced), good grip, but still less grip than the kojaks, which have less grip than the durano’s. Take your pick.

Not tried the spesh tyres mentioned above, but have tried spesh slicks in the past, squirrely in the wet, would avoid.

I’ve been using the Michelins on a recumbent. I’ve set them up tubeless with Stans rims, so run them at low pressure. They seem pretty fast. I’ve had Duranos and Kojaks on other bikes, but I don’t think they’re particularly fast – Duranos maybe slightly faster than Kojaks, depending on road surface.

+1 Continental Grand Prix 1″. The best in my experience of commuting in London for about 10 years.

I have a set of Maxxis Zenith folders, on sale in the for sale forum for £25.

The tyres roll very well and are not too uncomfortable, but I just don’t use them enough to make it worth storing them. Were used for London to Brighton and a few local rides.

Worth looking at whether you/your son is fussed about any grip in the wet – a number of models I would really trust in the dry only, including the Zenith.
