    Living here in the south would seem to be an ideal environment for the 29er – but as an ageing (40yo) xc rider I am also thinking the 26″ short travel xc bike might help me a bit more. I ride occasional xc races but mostly mtb stuff of 2hrs + in ‘sportive’ type events – entered the manx end to end as well…

    29er full sus is the way to go.

    As a 40+ XC rider with a 26″ FS and a 29er HT, it has to be pretty rocky before I go with the FS. I use it for fun rides over rocky mountains, but if speed is needed I’ll use the Scandal. Up to 12 hrs riding on it without regretting the lack of rear squish.
