    Has anyone got or seen one of these? Are they just the same as the 2.4″ version?

    Interested as they’re a little narrower, lighter and come tubeless ready with EXO casing. It would go on a nuke proof mega for uplifts and the like in place of a specialised Clutch SX.

    Cheers

    Haven’t used the 2.4 but yeah, got a 2.3, it’s good, no complaints. It’s not just the same as the 2.4 though, it’s .1 less 😉

    Though for an uplift tank I’d go with the 2.4 I reckon

    They are great. Been running them since last year. Bounced over the alps for a week with no problems and came very close to winning King and Queen of the Hill on them last year. Was only 254 places behind first…

    whats the difference between the DHR2 and the HR2 (apart from D)

    DHR2 is either expensive or rare.

    They still come up smaller than some other brands 2.3s

    But yeah they are good tyres

    I have 2.4 up front and 2.3 at the rear for gnarly day

    Changed from a HR2 to a DHR2 after finding the former is not so good in the wet (on the back) and was struggling for traction.
    The Minion 2 is a slightly more aggressive tread with a squarer leading edge so gives more grip under power, IME.
    If you want 26″ have a look at acycles, in France. Very good prices (about £30 delivered for a TR, EXO, 3C) and fast shipping.

    Thanks all. I’ll give one a go as they will get used for some general as well as uplifts.

    A cycles look good but didn’t seem to have any 26 2.3’s

    Got a 2.3 HR2 EXO TR but haven’t used it yet. Just got it ready as my earlier 2.4 HR2 EXO is wearing a bit thin and will replace it soon. Went for 2.3 as felt the 2.4 is pretty chunky. Got that for alps use really.

    HR2 = High Roller 2
    DHR2 = Minion Downhill Rear 2

    I believe. So two different tyres.

    hey, yeah they are different tyre models, i was being facetious about the D, in advance of someone else pointing it out. As i gather it the minion DHR2 is a baby brother of the full on DH tyre and the Holy Roller is different model, but i think a less aggressive tread. I was wondering if people who had owned both noted much difference, cheers

    Just fitted a pair this lunchtime to my Arch EXs. 2.3 dual compound rear, 2.3 3C front. Went on the rims easy and straight up tubeless with a track pump. Always used to use the original High Rollers but ran a Purgatory/Butcher combination instead for the last two years. Can’t wait to get out and try the new HR2’s

    be interesting to hear your thoughts on specialized vs maxxis tyres – both sets are on my shortlist

    Don’t look at it by brand- they’re both made by CST, to the same standard, and with a lot of obvious tech share. So, pick the tyre you want not the label.

    I don’t think Specialized have a tyre quite like the HR2- the Butcher is ace, but a knobblier and slower tyre, the Purg isn’t really competitive.

    i do have specific tyres in mind, namely the spec purg / butcher and the maxxis minion dhr2/dhf. so what i was saying (badly) was i’d be interested how the maxxis feels against compared to those two specific tyres.

    I’ve used all of the above. No expert so others may have different views, but I found the following:

    Purgatorys were Control versions. They are lighter and faster rolling, but they folded and burped all the time (25psi on Flows). Sidewalls noticeably thinner than Maxxis EXO. Grid versions may be better? Very good overall grip though.

    Maxxis DHF on front and rear for me for keeps. Fast rolling and tons of straight line grip, which has been ideal over winter. Typical ‘slip to grip’ Maxxis when cornering hard but not (yet) managed to wash one out. Had a DHR2 on the rear for two rides recently and found it was gripper than a DHF on the rear, and slower rolling, but gripped amazing. Too much rear tyre for me so swapped back for DHF. Dare say DHR2 would be great on the front, very similar to HR2.

    HR2s I found slightly slower rolling than DHFs but very good all rounders. Cornered perhaps a little more consistently but slightly heavier. All Tyres were in 2.3, though the Specialized I think were a pinch smaller.
