    Bit perplexed that in the Fox 2015 range there is a 170mm float 36 fork that can fairly easily be lowered to 160, and a 160 fork. Both weigh the same.

    Consumer choice gone mad?

    And another thing. What’s with SRAM’s “Predictive Steering (no doubt TM)” which seems to really mean “somewhat more predictABLE steering” with nothing bloody predictive about it.

    Rant over

    I don’t understand your problem, why do rockshox make a 150mm pike when a 160mm can be lowered to 150?

    Crashed into a tree? Not your fault?

    The answer? It’s the same fork you can buy it in 170mm out the box or 160mm out the box. The easy lowering process is beyond a lot of consumers and also requires tools, oil etc. Why mess around when you can buy the fork configured how you want.

    Is it the same fork? Assumed they were actually different models. What you say makes more sense.

    @craighill I thought Pike 160 couldn’t be dropped?

    And a lot still available as 1 1/8th. Which is interesting as RockShox has all but eliminated non-tapered forks. ie. Pikes
