Hi has anyone got any first hand knowledge of the 2012 scalpel…… such as sizing (5 11 with long arms thinking Large) and performance….is it just a race bike ?
I’m just sat at home with man flu preparing my case for a third bike !

I’ve had a large and a medium of the previous generation and found the large much slower to turn due to the longer wheelbase. I sold the frame (L) and bought a medium, rode much better. 5’9″ by the way.

The Scalpel is a pretty focused XC racer. I’ve got a 2012 Flash, which is, to all intents and purposes the hardtail equivalent. It is a great bike, and I do misuse it regularly on knarly, rocky downhills and working on getting more and more air on familiar jumps and it seems to take it all in its stride, despite its mere 90mm of front suspension travel. It’s just a bit ‘straight laced’ if that makes sence. But I love it, and it climbs like a train.

Trail riding, I had a Scott Scale for XC racing. Since sold the scalpel on.
