For Sale: 2011 Orange Five 17" in Sinbad Purple with Fox RP23 Shock, rrp £1699.99 and 2011 Fox 32 RL's (rrp £569.99) inc Headset and Brand New Raceface Seatpost

The frame is 4 months and in excellent condition. The 17" frame has the top tube length of the 18 with the seat tube height and standover of 16" frame making for an awesome playful trail build. The frame has a 12mm Maxle Rear end.

The frame has a Tapered headtube and comes with a Cane Creek Headset.
Also included in the sale is a pair of tapered 2011 Fox 32 RL's (QR) in white which have only seen two rides and are in new condition only with an extremely tiny rub from the gear cable.

Rather cheap!

Something strange about this frame though, I thought they only started doing 17" frames for 2012. If it is only 4 months old, it would be a 2012 model but it isn't (2011 shock and head tube badge)

A bike bought four months ago could easily be a 2011 model - shops don't necessarily sell all their stock within a MY! I can't speak for the geometry though.

Just to clarify a few points, the frame is a 17” model which was issued to me as a warranty replacement at the end of September 11.
As I understand Orange don’t really have model years as most of their updated models seem to be released mid way through the year, so to me this was a 2011 issue frame.

The shock was from my previous frame, which is the larger volume 2010 Fox RP23, just been serviced by TF Tuned with a PUSH Tune.

The forks are from a new Zesty purchased before Christmas, and due to them being the QR option I though it may put a few off as they don’t really match the attitude and capability of the maxle rear, the frame set was price to encourage a sale given the contradiction in set up.

So nothing ‘strange going on’ with the offer put forward, a chance for someone to get a good deal if they don’t mind a QR front end and a maxle rear.

Just to back what sannylootoo is saying, I bought a 5 frame in July 2011. It was called a 2011 because it had the RP23 shock on it. The "2012" model was available but the only difference was a lower spec shock or a cost option to upgrade to a Kashima RP23 so I went with the 2011 model. The 17 inch version has been a special order option for over a year. The 2012 frame now includes the 17" as a standard size.
There doesn't look to be any thing strange going on here other than a slight mismatch between a Maxle frame and a QR fork.
I would like to point out that I don't know the seller and just wanted to clarify things for any prospective buyers.

Leisure lakes in Derby have had 17" bikes in stock for months now. Orange are well known for just updating as they go along rather than have a fanfaired release date for all their models.

Errr, no it hasn't.

I have bought two this year, an 18" in May, and a 17" in August. When I bought the first one I asked about the 17" and was told it won't be out till late 2011.

Thats because the 2012 Five has been out for months.

I don't doubt that the OP's isn't a 17", he just got a mongrel.
