Thinking about a frame build for one of these.
Can anyone tell me what size front mech these jallopies take, (I'm assuming Bottom pull)?
Also are full length outer gear cabling the set up?
What forks are you running?
Any help appreciated. Ta.

Had a quick spin on one + REALLY like the geometry + suspension. It felt bang on.
Frames only seem expensive but they appear to tick the fast/fun/capable boxes + the fit felt perfect, ( I seem to fall between medium + large sizes for a fair few bikes).Posted 2 years ago # -
I spent a good 100km on one - well sorted bike, the only bike I've enjoyed as much, maybe more than my Five. Would still pick a five for the extra long travel versatility, but by god the ST4 was quick and fun!

Front mech is top-pull
Full length gear outers is the configuration of the 2010 frames
I'm running '09 Reba Race's on my 2008 frame with 2010 rear stays and 2010 RP23.
Highly recommend the bike though. I've fallen for mine in a big way. She's an encourageable singletrack weapon capable of anything I'm able to throw it down.
95% built before the rear stays were replaced by Orange

why the new stays? I really wanted one but had to go with a trance in the sale for 4" fun.

Mine's got a bottom pull mech. It was prob the last frame Orange put out with a 2009 spec on it, so it's likely to be identical to the 2010 frames. Square stays were supposed to sort out some of the rear end flex. I have no frame of reference, but they result in the worst chain suck issues I've ever come accross. Running 2010 Fox f120RL on the front with QR15.

Does it matter what the mech size is dont all new shimano front mechs work with all post sizes and both directions of cable pull?

New stays were due to the originals having an incorrect cable guide welded on. Orange replaced with the new box section ones. No chainsuck yet for me.

Mine is being delivered today
I need to find a bike shop open as it's come earlier than expected and I'm short of 2.5m of outer.Full length outers
Not sure on mech size but any new mech with adjusters will fit
I'm using the fork off my hardtail which is a Rev 2008 U-Turn Air 20mm. But I'll run it at 120mm all the time. Mate has one with Reba Teams on it fixed at 120 and he's very happy with those.I demo'd one for a day at Afan and loved it. Like riding a hardtail but with rear sus if that makes sense. Just fun to ride in Singletrack. Ace trail bike really.
New stays (according to bike shop) were to stiffen up rear end, It's still a bit flexy but not in a bad way.
I bought mine from Sunset MTB who chucked in a free hope headset.

Mine are u-turn so I'm running them at 120mm. I might re-use those Revs for something else and if I do, I'll get something fixed probably the Reba/Maxle.
First ride out today was great. It's not a cheap frame, but it is a lot of fun and the long stroke rocker seems to work really well.
