p20 is having to act as taxi service for me and my crutches as I am giving a talk at Bangor University next week. He really doesnt want to be stuck listening to my science chat, so I’m looking for any route suggestions for a 2-3 hour ride in the Bangor area that I can send him on.

Road, cross or mtb all welcome.

There’s a pleasant mainly off-road trail from Bangor up to Ogwen, for an out-and-back.

And he can check out the multi-seat loo at Porth Penrhyn!

+1 for the Ogwen Trail (or Lon Las Ogwen).

Yes, it’s an ‘out-and-back’ but it doesn’t feel like it. It’s a beautiful route and you get very different views going in each direction.

A burly road bike, or gravel bike would be fine, as would any type of MTB.

At the end there is the ‘bridge under the bridge’ to go looking for.

Have a ‘plan b’ in case it’s hoofing it down!

Plan B has to be Bounce Below at ZipWorld, surely?

Oh that does look nice – that might just convince him and make me feel less bad for him doing 6 hours of driving for me to give a talk! I’m jealous I cant ride it as well. Cross bike and not overly having to think about the route sounds ideal.

Think Plan B is coffee and cake with the iPad 😆

Glad you enjoyed it – Great little route, isn’t it?

Decent weather, too, but the look of it – was that today? (Friday)

Yes, today. Cool, but I was nicely wrapped up. Managed to get back half an hour before the hailstones came down.
