Do i need a singlespeed specific one or can i use my current deore middle ring and just take the other two off?

If i can just take the other 2 off do i need a chain guide to stop the chain jumping off (don't want to use a front mech to hold it on) ?

Anything else that might be useful to know 😕

You can use the middle ring as a stop-gap but a 'proper' ring will help stop the inevitable chain drop. Might still need the chain guide.

… and you'll need shorter chainring bolts.

If the big ring is dead, just cut it down so you just keep the tabs, so the chainring bolts are still OK.

i am using a standard middle ring, its a ti 32t and i use a mrp 1x chain guide, works fine i use a chain guide cos you can gaurantee the chain will stay on for months until you a doing some big climb and off comes chain and you talk in a high voice for a while
