going offroad touring tomorrow for the week.
my rucksack weighs 12lbs (spare battery and charger for the leccy bike).
how much more pressure in the rear shock, same has the bag weighs?

I had a bit more than that a few weeks ago and I put 20-25psi in there. I left the fork as it was to keep the front end down due to the wheelie-tastic climbs behind Loch Maree!

Edit: Due to the stupid amount of weight I had on my back. It was more of a bivi/fishing trip so the ride wasn’t much of an issue.

    It’s all about the sag.

Please take this the wrong way but I’m trying to be helpful

Assuming you owned this bike through your successful diet isn’t it a matter of going back to the shock pressure when you were 12lb lighter…

Surely it depends on what bike and frame you have as they all have different setups

ton, you’re still a big lad I think

what percentage of your overall weight is an extra 12lb – maybe 5% or so if you’re 17 stone or so

as mws said, “a bit” – or about 5% more than currently

Depends on shock and bike and what you’ve currently got the pressure at, need a bit more info

Put enough in to get ~20% sag.

What about 700psi? It’s as likely to be correct as any other answer you’ll get from here without knowing the bike, setup, rider weight etc.

On a more serious note you’ll want between 15 and 30% sag depending on what type of riding you will actually be doing.

I wouldn’t bother changing it for just 12lbs.

I mean, that’s just a good lunch, surely?
