    Do able?

I’m going to have some spare 10 speed rings and was wondering if I can throw them on my old 9 speed bike rather than buy new rings for that?

Yes. The narrower 10 spd chain apparently causes problems if you mix the other way.

No difference in internal width between 9 and 10 speed chains so chain rings are interchangeable between the 2.
10speed thinner overall due to thinner plates to cope with smaller gaps between cogs I thought?
I’ve run 10 speed chain on 9 speed rings for ages no problems.
