Recently finished converting the Anthem from 3 x 8 to 1 x 10 with an Eliptical ring. First impressions are good and it’s been great to have some sunshine to try it out…

So what are the benefits of an elliptical ring over a standard round one?

if orientated the right way, in theory they can reduce pedal-induced suspension bob.

    so does it work squeekybrakes?

TBH the most noticeable thing is the weight reduction. There does seem to be a more even torque when pedalling uphill but then again it may all be in the mind….

It looks like your not using anything to keep the chain on, I take it that hasn’t been an issue.

It’s not the same as biopace.

    is it 1994? 😕

edit – have just looked at that wiki article about biopace:

manufactured by Shimano from 1983 to 1993

    probably not 1994 then!

It’s a Rotor Q Ring and most definitely isn’t round – you notice the odd shape when it turns… Not had any problems so far with the chain falling off though I do need to remove some more links in the chain.
