Hi, my mate has a vintage Kona Hahana which has a 1″ quill, what does he need to do to get a 1 1/8″ stem on there?

I’ve seen some kits that have a star nut and cone race, is this all he needs? Wouldn’t there be a gap between the steerer and stem clamp?

Scroll down to near the bottom left and you will see the “VO Threadless Stem Adapter” – I have this on my commuter (ancient spesh hardrock) and it works a treat.

Alternatively – I’ve got a lovely Syncros 1″ quill stem in the parts box in the shed….
