A question please, How do I put 1-1/8" steerer tube to tapered head tube? I plan to buy new bike with tapered headtube and want to put my old fork to it.
Do I need to buy a entirely new headset? what type?

You will need a reducer headset with a reducer bottom cup.
I have one in my Transition Covert, it's an Acros AX-22r

Depending on the headset fitting of the frame (ask the manufacturer) you can get hope pick and mix cups with a 1 1/8 top cup and a reducer bottom cup, thats what I have in my Kona to fit straight forks into its tapered head tube.
Also think there's a headset finder on the cane creek site that'll tell you what you need if your frame is listed.

Without knowing the frame and what headset it needs no way to advise for sure. But it should be possible. Hope do mix and match if there is not an all in one solution out there.

you need to know if you need a low stack (internal style) or external bearing lower cup or you will mess up the bikes geometry.

This lists most makes and models of frames and fork types (that I've come across) and makes it a doddle for dumb asses like me to mix and match. Then just search for the cane creek model code. Or hope do the same thing via your lbs.

Am I missing something but depending on the headset it may just be a case of a new crown race?
If its a cartridge bearing headset you might just need a reducer crown race.
Some of superstar components headsets come with a reduced one as well as one for a tapered steerer.
I also got one on ebay from China or Taiwan, I can't remember

Personally, i'd go for a normal tapered headset, and use one of Hope's crown race adaptors on your existing fork. If you buy a reducing headset now, you'll need to replace at least the lower assembly if you swap to a tapered fork in the future, rather than just removing the adaptor(they only add about 2mm to the height, and will work with other headsets too).

Integrated has the bearings directly in the frame.

You've probably got ZS44 upper and ZS49 lower but need to know the lower stack height.

Headset: FSA Orbit 1.5E ZS Aheadset 1-1/8" Upper, 1.5" Lower
That is for a tapered fork but it gives us all the specs we need.
It is a low profile lower cup: http://www.fullspeedahead.com/products/292/Orbit-15E-ZS
Looks like the lower is 56mm not the ZS49.
The superstar ones mentioned above do come with both crown races (tapered or straight) but the lower cup size is wrong: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=426
Your best bet would be the FSA headset the manufacturer uses plus either a reducing crown race is FSA do them or the Hope adapter mentioned above.

IT comes with a reducing crown race only so later on you would need to source the 1.5" one if you got tapered forks.
For the sake of easy spares and peace of mind I would go for the Hope option as you know you will always be able to get any spares.

I better get one of those hope reducer and use the existing headset, or is there any disadvantage on using this rather than buying a brand new headset?
