I cycled round that area about 4 years ago. The road surfaces are a bit rubbish, and the (many) coaches are a pain but it's lovely all right.

Just found out that my riding partner decided to stay out after me last night till 4am then spent the rest of the "night" throwing it all back up again (he doesnt get out much!). Not sure that is ideal preparation but I guess we will find out soon enough

Weather is pretty pissy at the moment, hoping for a reprieve.

Also 5 pints of Murphs has made it seem much easier, but I doubt will help on Saturday

Nah it's grand. I did it last year and the year before, can't make it this year though. The only real hills are coming out of Waterville and Molls gap after Kenmare, but neither are bad really. I went up Molls Gap in May with full camping gear, just long not steep.

If you get good weather its a nice day out and people are friendly. I did it in 7 hours 11 mins last year including stops, I'm no roadie I took my Jake with slicks on which was fine.

Both times I have flagged a bit by Sneem, then picked up by Kenmare with a 2nd wind from about 80 miles on.

Damn I wish I was going now!

My in-laws live in Cork and I've been dropped off a few times for the ROK. It's a great ride - stunning coastal views, hidden bays, cracking little cafes for lunch stop. It's fairly flat too, a really nice ride.
One tip though - check it's fully open before you go. The first time I tried it I got to exactly half way to find 'Road Closed'. No diversions set up, stood in the middle of the road a bit confused!!
You'll love it - when you've finished and are halfway down a Murphy's!
