It has been rather more popular than expected. I think Martin is generally happy that more of the surfacing hasn't failed so badly. Teething problems I think.

On a plus note there should be another couple of hundred yards of volunteer trail open in a couple of weeks, just letting it bed in at the moment.

Went up last night, it's very cut up in places particular the tree covered areas that haven't been surfaced with rock. In fact it's probably up to 6 inches deep in gloopy mud in places. Even the old bits that have been there years are now in a poor state due to the added volume of riders.

It was still bloody good fun though, first time I'd ridden the new sections in the dark!

Hoping to head there this Friday, for the 2nd time - looking forward to it, just hope it'll stand up to the monsoon conditions that are (apparently) fast approaching. Might make for a decent-cautious ride, but thought the big dipper was slidy 5 weeks ago; ride to the conditions, I suppose. Be good to have the signs correct my original route (+ take 20 mins off circuit time!)

Rode it on sunday and was highly impressed, much better with propper way marking
Almost lost it on the slimy big dipper jobby, and thought the slab was great

Went round again yesterday and the new (and old) circular red signage seems reasonably foolproof to get you round.

Well done to the trailbuilders. Was very impressed with Gisburn last night. I am not ashamed to say I missed out on some sections (don't want to damage myself before my hols, and yes I am that clumsy). But I will be back to ride the bits I missed again.

Hello to Broken_Collarbones - was nice to meet you.

If anyone finds some DHB glasses in the car park, black with blue-grey lenses, they are mrdominos. Can you drop me an email if you find them.

Thanks

Update on the signage:
As said above, the posts are in. The FC guy (Martin Colledge) has now rearranged the old red circular MTB directional markers, they should now direct you round the new stuff the correct way. The proper new slot-in markers won't be in place for another few weeks or a month. Apparently Martin is waiting on FC HQ to renew some grading issues and trail head info wording before he can finish the signage, but if you follow the circular red route markers, you should get to ride everything and shouldn't get lost.

Can someone confirm whether the way markers are up now? I'm thinking about going up sometime early in September, but I'll be solo and I don't want to get lost!

i chose gisburn forest as the first place to try out my new clipless pedals, needless to say i fell off a couple times. worst was probably at the quarry bit coming off one of the fire roads after quite a big climb, fell left off a big boulder bridge into a pit! what a noob... But i thought the trails were fantastic! excellent work everyone who's helped make them!

Went up to Gisburn for the first time yesterday and thought it was pretty good , not mind blowing but for somewhere around an hour away from home I'll definately go back.Next time I'll take the XC bike though as my 6" travel FR bike was a bit overkill , but at least I got a workout.

Did the slab without even thinking about it , it's nowhere near as steep as it looks .It's a bit Dalby forest(ish) in a few places but overall the place gets a big thumbs up from me , thanks to those involved in building everything.

Met a family about half a mile after the big berms section who's young lad had fallen off and injured his wrist , if you're reading this I hope he's ok and it was just sprained like I thought.

I built those steps so I had to ride them, bit of speed and don't panic and they are very doable, going to build some more on the next section. My mate pointed out that some of the drops on the coaster section are probably as steep as the slab, just a lot more friendly to look at.

Don't know the other drops, Mitchell's House rings bells though.

I found the slab fairly unimpressive; there is a section in a local ride that is steeper and rougher (quarry near Mitchell's House, Stumpy - do you know it?)

The rock steps in thre trees early I find more nerve-wracking; they are always look so slimey and wet. It's all in the head, though.

The slab is ace cos you get a great bit of speed up for the next section. Bit intimidating at first but it's dead easy really - just don't try and brake on it!
