well, I've had mine a week now and prob done about 10hrs of riding (two 3-4 hr xc rides a more more dh'y session today).

First disclaimer is that I've just spent a load of dosh and and am in the honeymoon period but I will try to be objective...

Compared the the pitch...more firmly damped (i.e.more low speed compression, the Mega has a hard compression tune on the monarch shock)

Similarly slack (pitch had 160mm forks) although the mega is longer and feels a bit more stable at speed and in the air. Also feels a bit more eager to get in the air...perhaps the firm damping giving a bit more pop of roots etc if you want it.

Mega is stiffer (but heavier I think). Tracks really well on rooty off-camber. Feels nice and low, carves corners well and generally inspires confidence.

Does feel a bit more of an effort than the pitch on less demanding, more xc type riding. It really feels best when ridden hard. whereas the pitch was maybe a better all rounder and happier at 7 tenths...I dunno, still early days and still playing around with settings and getting used to it.

Really happy with the purchase though; I'm much more into going downhill these days and the mega is great at that; can't wait to get it to the Alps!!

Got some white rigids to try out on this soon, might end up splashing out on some new Suss forks too possibly (white 120mm SID's perhaps). And probably getting a white saddle soon, though not white grips, I learnt that lesson before!

Only the ones in the vids so far! Officially not available until 1st week of June.
I'm guessing 29lb to 32lb depending on build and how much money thrown at it! Nigel Page's machine claimed 'around 30lb' and that's with Bombers and Nukeproof stuff is not the lightest around.

I may need to start with a hybrid headset to get the 150mm Revelations to fit properly. I think I need a 1.5" external lower cup to raise the front 20mm with my shorter forks. Am I right?

Deveron, can't comment on longevity or how it'll work in a Mega but comparing a Monarch with an RP23 in the Hemlock, there's not much in it at all, if you'd stuck a Fox sticker on the can I'd not have even thought about it. Both very nice kit, as far as I can tell Fox is only the default option because that's what people expect, not because of performance.

Old thread I know but...
Seriously considering the Mega as a replacement for my 575. If I was to replace the rear shock with an RP23, would it be worth it? (RP23 already purchased, so monetary considerations don't count) More reliable than the Monarch? Better performance? Was speccing the Monarch done for price-point considerations? What about warranty? Would using the RP23 void it?
Another question (assuming Brant is listening). Where is the seatpost binder slot?
I'm a bit confused about the headset compatibility. What would be the recommended headset for 150mm RS Revelations with non-tapered steerer.
Thanks in advance.

How about bed one side, bikes the other next to a fold down bed. When camping, remove bike wheels and place bikes on front seats then fold down second bed?
Hammock is also good idea if you need the floor space for tools/dirtworker/etc.

Not sure i'd fancy it, got a VW Caddy that's barely long enough to sleep in comfortably(i'm 5'11"), let alone sharing it with two bikes and another person.I'd try it for length before you start spending money on kitting it out.

Trying to get everything in that van and sleep in it will be very hard. The only way I think it'll work will be to make a sleeping platform part way up the van (vertically) at the full size of the rear, leaving as much room under as you possibly can (lowest bed to roof gap) and stash everything underneath.

Have to say that two people plus bikes sleeping in a van that size sounds really cramped particularly as access will be difficult without a side door.

Remember that if you're insulating and ply-lining it, that is going to take up some of the space

These guys do camper conversions on vans your size so may be able to advise / give you some ideas of what is possible:

Not sure I can offer much advice on the bench/bed fitting, as I bought one in,

But on my VW T4 I insulated with kingspan 25/50mm on the sides, and topped off with silver bubble wrap style insulation under the panels. roof + floor got 2 layers of the silver bubble wrap, but the proper way to do it is to raise the floor with battens and fit 25mm insulation in there.

Also used flashing tape in an attempt to sound deaden - worked quite well.

I also carpet lined and that makes the whole thing look a lot more pro and car like. Bought the whole kit of automotive (stretchy) carpet and evil heat-proof glue from megavanmats (do a search)

My bed is high enough off the floor that 2 bikes can be fitted underneath. it's not full width/length so bars can stick up at the side/end.

I've just bought a 2001 Vauxhall Combo (think Berlingo sized white van) with no side doors for biking duties and a road trip up to Fort Bill in July.

The plan is to fit it out so that 2 people can sleep in it every other day of the trip with bikes still inside . Along with insulation and ply-lining I'm currently thinking of a 'bench' seat down one side that could double as one bed, with a lift up top with storage inside and a 8 inch deep set of cupboards/shelves on the other side for more storage. This would leave a gap in the middle for 2 bikes. The 2nd bed would be a bunk bed above the first or some kind of hammock arrangement.

Before I begin I was just wondering on other peoples experiences are.

I've done a search and there's quite a bit on fitting out Transit sized vans but I couldn't find much for smaller vans.

Thanks in advance.
