Errr, are the drivers for this still available? I was 'upgrading' the cable to a magicshine cable and when I removed the old wire from the -ve terminal on the driver, I pulled out the little metal pad around the hole, and there isn't anything for the solder to fix to now. DOH

I should probably email blackcat I guess!

Since last winter I’ve been chipping away at this project; typically 15 to 30 mins on a Sat morning whilst the lads watch The Octonauts on iplayer at 6:30 am. After some design re-thinks, 2 toasted drivers (boy have I learned about insulation)…it’s done.

Troutie, the SUGRU was/is absolutely FANTATIC… I used it extensively from insulating soldered wires, creating lead trunking, waterproofing the plug-lead junctions and ‘forging’ the mounting stubs….it’s totally awesome. What’s even better, it’s p1ss easy to remove; when dry, with a Stanley knife.

OT: Found a thread re the trout thinking of leaving the light market….shame.

Can’t wait for…..erm…..the evenings to draw in….. I’m running away, right now....

Cos of the fat in it, takes longer to digest it all - AFAIK.

iDave, If you don't mind, I'd still like to know why fruit is not allowed? Most of the things I've read about low GI eating seems to think fruit is ok.

I also notice that whole milk has a lower GI than both skimmed and semi skimmed.

iDave, have you read the 4 hr body book? If so how similar (or otherwise) is your plan? I started the 4 hr theory three weeks ago and have lost 11 lbs without experiencing any energy loss and without increasing the minimal amount of exercise I currently do! Pretty impressed so far......

Hmm.

I wonder if exercising hard in the morning then not replenishing carbs til the evening (ie riding to work) would produce a similar effect? Hard to say since that article is rather terse.

I found the diet worked a bit but only as much as me keeping my eating "sensible" in the first place does. I found it a bit of a pain to produce all the required meal types for work, but no pain no gain and all that. I did, however, use it to refresh my plate size and introduce me to some new foods.

Not a fatty - just not yet ripped enough

Thanks iDave, I'll see about including some. I had wondered if I was eating too little, but it's just so counter-intuitive to eat more for fat loss when being force fed a diet of conventional wisdom by the media and the masses.

they're very important for energy - it's not a calorie restrictive diet.

if you're not getting enough fat loss you may not be eating enough - there are loads of ways to have them. mashed butter beans with olive oil , garlic and mint for example is a great alternative to mashed potato. make lentil curry, mix them with scrambled eggs. use herbs and spices.

or stay a fatty

Probably not. If you arent getting great results then perhaps you are eating too much? Eating something extra ontop of this may not help

Sorry, this is a slightly geeky question ... but how important are the legumes? I've been doing a version of the iDave diet without the legumes, and the results have been okay. I'm not super keen on legumes, but I wonder if they were included for a reason and if I'd get better results as a result of consuming them?

Hi Reg

I have run out of the XPGs on 20 mm stars but could do one with
xpgs on 10 mm square boards but that would make it a difficult build
as the reflector sits on the solder pads .

I’ve got the first one the P7 you linked, 18 month or so and not too bad, Mine has recently developed an issue with the switch on the lamp but is still usable, the battery sealing is not up to much but that is easily fixed, I still get about 6 hours mixed use out of a fully charged battery.
I think if I were buying another now it would be one of the better sealed versions of the P7 for a few pennies more… but I’m generally very happy with the purchase,

I also have a 2 mode 1x18650 P7 torch for my helmet which is also very good for the money, I think it was about £25-ish and well worth the money IMO a cheap one on the bars would definitely be useable enough for me to ride dark single track with (perhaps not quite as fast as with the Bastid and a helmet light)…

Usually you get the batteries and charger seperately. I'm not sure if this is still the cool charger to get but I've got 2 of these... http://www.dealextreme.com/p/dsd-18650-cr123a-charger-black-936

The reason it was recommended to me is that it comes with its own 2-prong wall wart but it'll run off the old model (fat plug) Nokia mobile charger too, same plug, same demands, but a bit higher quality... So you can get car chargers, cheap replacements, etc and I had some lying around already.
