The rider who tragically died at this weekend’s EWS competition has been named.

Will Olson, 40, from Colorado, crashed towards the final part of Trail 400 at around 11.50am, Saturday.

The competition was subsequently cancelled following the fatal accident.

It is believed that Olson was killed due to a blunt force impact to the chest, however nothing is certain until the official coroner’s report is published.

Two other riders immediately began CPR until medical officials reached Olson- a paramedic was flown in by helicopter, who then pronounced the 40-year-old dead.
