Flyup 417 cleared for take-off

We’ve had a quick update from the folks at Flyup Downhill – their 417 project is (finally) cleared for take off!

Sounds like they’ve had a frustrating time getting the necessary planning permissions, but we can now look forward to another dedicated bike park opening soon. Based near Cheltenham and close to the M5 (so nice and accessible), the project is set to be the biggest privately-owned facility of its type in the UK, with three downhill tracks with uplift, a four-cross and dual slalom run, freeride and dirt jump areas, and two indoor riding barns for bad weather days (and nights), plus café, shop and workshop. We’re looking forward to paying them a visit once the park’s open (disclaimer: we can’t jump)…

Flyup says: “We’re unbelievably happy to announce that after two years of blood, sweat, and sometimes even tears, the FlyUp 417 Project has finally been given full planning permission – and is all systems go! Despite being told by the experts that the red tape would be a quick and easy process, it’s dragged on and on, and has been a monumental challenge. Thankfully it’s now fully signed, sealed and delivered with only a few tweaks to the original plans. We’re all working as hard as we can to open the Project ASAP and we’ll keep the updates, news and developments coming regularly via our newsletters and social media.”
