by 2

The good folk at the POC Scottish Enduro Series have announced the venues for the 2015 series – here’s the release:

For 2015 we are back with another series of enduro races to blow your mind. Once again the series will be sponsored by POC, bringing fantastic prizes and much more!

It is a mission of the POC Scottish Enduro Series to seek out outstanding new venues and to increase the knowledge of great riding locations throughout Scotland.

Spook from SES said: “Of course, there will always be classic locations, but this is a National series that wants to celebrate what Scotland has to offer mountain bikers”. After some scouting and resourcing, the POC Scottish Enduro Series 2015 will mix it up at a few of those classic locations and it will feature 2 brand new venues that we know you are going to love.

Kirsty Round 1 2014 Fort Bill

Check out the series dates and venues (please note that the rounds dates have each changed from the published provisional dates):

Round 1 – Tweed Valley, Scottish Borders 7th and 8th March. The trails in the valley are long, steep and plentiful. The series had two very different rounds here in 2014 and we already know that in 2015 there will be different stages, different challenges and a whole heap of fun for the season opener.

Round 2 – Ae Forest, Dumfries and Galloway 18th and 19th April. Ae Forest has one of the best and most popular downhill tracks on the British circuit. As well as that, there is a plethora of secret trails and enduro perfect routes. This will be a return to Ae for the SES and we will be mixing it up here and showing you new parts of the forest never previously used.

Round 3 – Glenlivet Bike Park, Tomintoul 13th and 14th June. Scotland’s newest MTB centre opened this summer and has had record numbers of visitors. The trail centre has some sweet descents and the area has some amazing hidden gems that we want to introduce you to. Come with us as we take you to the ‘other side of the hill.’ This round of the Series will be a part of the Rock and Road Cycling Festival.

Round 4 – Laggan Wolftrax, Laggan 15th and 16th August. People from Fort William often say that, ‘It’s always Sunny at Laggan’. That was proven last year with the dustiest conditions ever seen at a Scottish race. Also spot on were the trails and the atmosphere. We can’t wait for Laggan next year and with new permanent facilities including a new cafe and shower block, it promises to be even better than 2014.

Round 5 – Fort William 12th and 13th September. This is where the season started for the SES last year, and we will be returning there once again. Home to the UCI DH World Cup every year and no stranger to competitive racing; it’s a no brainer to take the SES to Fort Bill.

Round 6 – Largs, Ayrshire 17th and 18th October. This is a brand new location for the SES and one that we can’t wait to show you. The team there have been working hard on increasing their trail network for the last year. Alongside the cracking trails, you’ll have great coastal views. This is Scotland’s version of the summit to sea venue, so pack your speedos.

New for 2015 will be one central location for all entries. Register through the Scottish Enduro Series section on the SportIdent website once and it will log your information, so that whenever you want to enter a race it will just take a couple of clicks on the keyboard. This also means that you will be able to enter as many rounds as you like in the same transaction. You must be registered on the SportIdent website to accrue series points. Tickets for all of the rounds will be open this week, along with a limited availability series tickets for the committed racers keen to catch a bargain.

New for 2015 we are introducing an Elite category for the top end field and a new race format – Enduro Lite. This format is for those that might lack the fitness required for the full enduro or perhaps the technical confidence for all the stages. Stuart at SES said; “We really want to encourage new people to the sport and what better way than via Enduro Lite – a stepping stone to the National Series.” The series will also be embracing change and the advancement of technology with a specific category for e-bikes.
