Eurobike 2014: Hardtails

We went in search of some hardtails; here is a pick of some of our favourites:

Nukeproof’s recently released Scout, a 27.5in, 150mm front travel ripping machine.

The Scout is available in S,M,L,XL. There are two different spec. options, a comp model (green/black) and a race model (raw/black). The comp model comes in at £1599.99 and the race at £1299.99. If a full bike doesn’t take your fancy Nukeproof is doing the frame only at £349.99.

Two bikes from the Giant XTC range were on display. It was showing the Advanced SL 27.5 (back) and the Advanced 27.5 1 (front). If you have £3599.99 to spend then the lightweight Advanced SL-Grade Composite framed SL model could be for you. It’s equipped with SRAM’s 1×11 X01 drivetrain, Guide RS brakes and a 100mm Sid fork.

If maybe £3000+ is a bit too steep then maybe you would prefer the Advanced 1 maybe for you? Maybe? At £2899.99 you’re still getting an Advanced-grade composite frame, a full XT groupset and a 100m Fox fork.

The new Wooky Carbon RC from Devinci is their XC race machine. Full carbon frame backed up with a full Shimano SLX groupset and a RockShox Reba 100mm fork. Price £TBC.

BMC speed machine Team Elite TE02

BMC’s Teamelite TE02 29 comes equipped with SRAM’s X01 1×11 groupset, and stopping duties are taken care of by SRAM’s Guide RS brakes. Suspension duties lie with Fox and the 100mm 32 fork. Price £TBC.

Rocky Mountain’s Vertex 990 SL is available in S,M,L,XL and a range of spec models. The bike on display had X01 mech and shifter with Raceface’s Next SL crank, Shimano SLX brakes and a 100mm Sid fork.

Next up we have the Orange Clockwork 120. Available in S,M,L,XL, the 120mm forked, 27.5in alloy-framed Clockwork will only set you back £1000. With Shimano gearing and RockShox suspension, the Clockwork 120 is specced for value.

There is one upgrade available in the form of a RockShox Reverb Stealth post for an extra £320.

Canyon’s Grand Canyon bike was on show, a carbon fibre 100mm forked ripper, suited ideally for marathon and XC riding/racing.
