Even though today’s bikes are more capable than ever before, given the popularisation of trail centres and flow trails it feels as though fewer and fewer of us spend much time on good old-fashioned ‘natural’ trails.  While we’ll spare you the kids these days mumble grumble, it is nice to see a video that so prominently features slippery roots and inconveniently-placed rocks.

As can be seen from Episode 2 of Mulally’s “Chasing Trail” series it’s also lovely- lushly forested and green.  The video was filmed between DuPont State Forest, known for its quick-draining soil and exposed rock, and Pisgah National Forest, which is famous for its brutally challenging roots and rock gardens.  We may never be as smooth as Necko, but it’s good to be reminded that flow can be found on even the most uncooperative trails.
