Update: Yeti SB5c Auction Bike

by 0

Current Highest Bid: £3000

As many of you will already know, last Sunday was the one-year anniversary of the passing of our Deputy Editor, Jenn Hill. Jenn was cruelly taken away from us at just 37 years of age, after being diagnosed with lung cancer just a year prior to her passing. With Jenn being as fit, healthy and adventurous as she was, it truly came to a shock to all around her.

During her last few months at Singletrack, Jenn began building her dream longterm test bike: a Yeti SB5c. Sadly, Jenn never got to finish the build.

Twelve months on from her tragic passing, and thanks to some incredible help from the likes of Yeti and SRAM, we’ve managed to finish off Jenn’s longterm test bike. The medium sized Yeti SB5c is now complete with a SRAM 1×11 drivetrain, and with the help of our partners, we are auctioning off the bike, with all proceeds going to St Gemma’s Hospice, who looked after Jenn in her final weeks. See the original post here.

The Yeti SB5c has just had an upgrade, with a new RockShox Reverb Stealth fitted to take it to the next level!

The big news we’ve had this week however, is the addition of a brand new RockShox Reverb dropper post for the SB5c. Prior to this, the bike was without a seatpost, so we owe an enormous thanks to the generous crew RockShox for putting forward the Reverb dropper to help finish off the build and support the #forjenn cause.

Stealth routed Reverb dropper post keeping things black, sleek and very neat indeed!

The Reverb dropper fitted to the Yeti SB5c is a Stealth model, so it’s got internal routing through the frame to keep things clean and slick. It has 125mm of travel, and uses a fully hydraulic activation to control the post height. The one we’ve got here is the brand new Reverb (rolled out earlier this year), so it’s got updated internals for improved reliability. In fact, this is the same model of dropper post that won our ‘Singletrack Recommended’ tag in the new issue that’ll be out next week.

Right hand remote mounted under the bar on the left side in place of a front shifter.

We went with a right hand remote that we could mount underneath the bar on the left hand side up against the rear brake. Because the SRAM GX drivetrain is 1×11, there is no front shifter, so the Reverb remote can take its place in a more ergonomic position that looks better too.

Tucked up against the rear brake lever, the Reverb remote is super easy to use and offers adjustable rebound speed for the post action.

The blacked-out Reverb is a perfect match for the matte carbon frame on the Yeti SB5c. We like!

The new Reverb Stealth dropper post is valued at £374.99, so not only has it helped to finish off the Yeti SB5c, it’s also upped the value too. RockShox is distributed in the UK by ZyroFisher, so get in touch if you’d like to find your nearest stockist.
