Eurobike 2016: Park Tool, Green Tools?

by 0

The main news from Park Tool this Eurobike was a new workstand, and a new wheelstand, designed to accommodate a wider range of frames and wheels. Oh, and green tools! More on those below.

The new PRS-22 workstand is designed to hold bikes securely without any necessity to clamp carbon frame tubes or seatposts. It does this by holding the front axle and supporting the BB. Weight is under 6 kilos and height is adjustable from 76 – 114cm.

These t-slots allow you to flip the bottom bracket supports to accommodate different widths of BB, along with any cabling you might have under there.

It can accommodate any size of axle simply by clamping down on it…

… and the clamp flips up to release.

Of course, it also slides along the rails to meet up with different bike lengths.

This is the new TS-4 wheel stand, designed to accommodate fat and plus bike wheels even with tyres on.

While it can accommodate mammoth tyres, it retains the range needed for standard wheels too.

The v-slots at the top of each arm take QR skewers, but these nubs are for larger axles too.

If, for whatever reason, your tyre rubs the stand, these adapters will raise it.

Green? Green!? Yes, all of Park’s Torx only tools are now green.

Unlike this set of Torx keys, any sets or multitools that have non-torx tools will still be in familiar Park blue…

… and green may seem a bit off brand…

… but green torx tools will make mechanics lives a lot easier when they’re reaching for stuff on the bench!

For when you absolutely, definitely don’t have a spanner in the correct size, but must have your adjustable spanner match the rest of the toolkit.

The BBT-16 is for removing crank caps on some Raceface, SRAM and Truvativ cranks. It also has an 8mm hexagonal hole in the back, so if your cap is stubborn you can get an allen key in for extra leverage.

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
