It has been over a decade since the unveiling of the legendary Soul, but now Cotic has released a new model for 2016 which features a thru axle.
For 2016, Cotic’s new Soul comes with a Syntace X-12 142×12 thru axle option and developed hose routing for Stealth/Internal dropper seat posts. It also comes in an extra small size.
Earlier this year, Cotic announced the addition of three new full suspension offerings to its Droplink range as well as a new BFe model with a thru-axle, which first signalled a change of heart from Cotic regarding thru-axles on its frames.
The 27.5in steel hardtail Soul is priced from £1699, with a frame only option starting at £549. Deliveries on orders begin mid-September this year. More from Cotic below…

A trail riding machine in the truest sense, the Soul has amazing adaptability and all round performance. Tough, light, zippy, fun, interactive, durable, comfortable. It was initially conceived as a Modern Steel Hardtaill. We wanted the best frame we could make balancing lightweight with toughness and great handling, and that where we have always aimed to keep it. It’s grown and adapted, with dropper seatpost compatibility, tapered headtube, 27.5″ wheels and now a bolt thru axle option too.
The Soul is happy ripping up the singletrack at your local woods or trail centre, crossing maps on your bivvy adventures, smashing rocks in the Peak or Lake Districts, or tearing down mountains on your summer holidays.
27.5″ wheels bring easier acceleration, lighter weight, and a more interactive feel than larger 29″ or Plus wheels, at the expense of slightly less stability and easy rollover on rockier, bumpier terrain. They also more easily package into a small frame, so the proportions suit shorter riders.

New stock with the new features and sizes arrives in mid-September. Colours are Matte Cotic Orange or Gloss Aqua, both with reflective downtube panels. Frames and bikes ordered now will be delivered on 23rd September in the UK, early the following week worldwide.

Probably worth repeating that the new Soul won’t be coming in that ace Yellow. Just a few Large Yellows left from the last batch in stock, no stealth routing, old price.
New version is Aqua or Orange, with QR or Thru axle, both options come with stealth dropper routing.
