Day 5 – 30 Days of Biking

by 0

If you’ve not heard of it before, 30 Days of Biking is a personal challenge with a charitable edge. People pledge to ride their bike every day in April, and for every two that do, 1USD is donated to World Bicycle Relief. This year we have five riders attempting the challenge.

Day 5

One sixth of the way there, five different rides:

Nice arty shot, but we want to see the pie.

Bike ride to purchase a rather fine meat pie.

Goose Jousting?

A day of contrasts and challenges. A murky commute on wet cobbles, a sunny return dodging trams and a glorious evening jousting rowdy geese. Three rides topped off with a messy tubeless fail, thankfully close to home, inelegantly fixed with super-glue.

Is that jacket just shiny or very very wet?

Morning rain, evening sun. Grey in between. Getting back to that point where I’ve no idea what is going to happen weather wise, so I bring a bit of everything and hope for the best. At least the flies aren’t out yet. 91km along , 730m up, 4hrs10mins more.

Good skies at Gisburn. Nothing falling out of them.

A rare trail centre trip to join the Hopetech Women’s Ride at Gisburn. Perfect night for it.

Lara. ‘Working’ from home.

After a couple of strenuous days, today’s short off-road faux commute was bloomin’ lovely!

Terrible traffic on the inner city loop road today, sorry I’m late.

Couldn’t ignore this diversion on my way to work.

Wednesday…

The hump of the week! It’s all downhill from Wednesday to the weekend – check back tomorrow to see whether our gang is free wheeling down or grinding up.

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
