Crankworx 2016

Video: Triple Crown of Slopestyle – Crankworx 2016

by 0

If you haven’t been over to RedBull TV’s site recently, you really should. There’s much to take up an extended lunch-hour for the dedicated biker – not least the fun and action from the RedBull Crankworx 2016 slopestyle event at Rotorua, New Zealand.

What’s nice about RedBull’s website is that – on a PC at least – it doesn’t seem to be the same on mobile devices just yet – you can scroll easily to waypointed parts of the 2hr+ video (at the bottom), so you can watch the awesomeness you want to see, and ONLY that awesomeness. The other awesomenesses you can, of course, watch another time. Want to watch Brandon Semenuk do preposterous things? Watch his first run. Want to watch him do, essentially, a victory lap? Wsth his second. It’s quick and easy, and well worth a peep this lunchtime.

Barney Marsh takes the word ‘career’ literally, veering wildly across the road of his life, as thoroughly in control as a goldfish on the dashboard of a motorhome. He’s been, with varying degrees of success, a scientist, teacher, shop assistant, binman and, for one memorable day, a hospital laundry worker. These days, he’s a dad, husband, guitarist, and writer, also with varying degrees of success. He sometimes takes photographs. Some of them are acceptable. Occasionally he rides bikes to cast the rest of his life into sharp relief. Or just to ride through puddles. Sometimes he writes about them. Bikes, not puddles. He is a writer of rongs, a stealer of souls and a polisher of turds. He isn’t nearly as clever or as funny as he thinks he is.
