Windstopper, you say?

A super packable and lightweight windproof jacket, for easy carrying in your pack. It also has taped seams and looks like it might withstand a bit a water (although it’s not being sold as such), so we’re looking forward to testing this one out and seeing how it performs. Nice red zip detailing, a hood, and reflective wording on the arms. And floaty light. Nice.

Bib Shorts

£99.99

Here, unworn for obvious reasons, are Gore’s new bibs – we’re a tight knit bunch at Singletrack Towers, but getting Richard to caper about the carpark in them would be overstepping the mark, we’re told. Emphatically. By Richard. So you’ll just have to believe me that these new black bib shorts are a Large, and would fit him. We’ll find a suitable model for Fresh Goods Friday this week. *Gosh, where is everybody, is there no-one in the office today?*

“Bib shorts, so what’s new about that?” I hear you huff. Well, these ones have a Windstopper POUCH. These are men’s bib shorts, so this is a pouch for your tackle, not your puncture repair kit (we assume. Perhaps both?), so you can keep it all tucked up and out of the way and aerodynamic – or presumably so you don’t accidentally sit on it when you’re on the trail? Does that even happen? Not to normal people; we’re unsure about Richard, he just blushed. What’s more, that Windstopper front stops your tackle getting too chilled, but it’s also breathable so you don’t develop anything even more nasty and fungal down there.

Power WS SO Jersey

£124.99

A little on the roadie side, but don’t pretend you don’t like to dabble occasionally, you tease, you. This is Gore’s answer to Castelli’s Gabba (gabba hey) jersey, seen throughout the pro-peloton over recent years. Waterproof and windproof, it looks ideal for the British summer. Just let me find my arm warmers. And a scarf.

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
