Help Raise Flood Funds With “A Grand Day Out”

by 0

Parts of the UK have been hit by devastating flooding which has even forced some unfortunate people to leave their homes over the festive period.

GRAND DAY OUT

One of the worst affected areas was across the far north of England in Cumbria and around the Lake District, which is a popular destination for all outdoorsy people- including mountain bikers.

In an effort to give back to the tremendous support provided by the Cumbria Community Foundation’s Flood Recovery Appeal and Cumbria’s Mountain Rescue Teams, a fundraising event has been organised.

The “Grand Day Out” is being led by the legendary Sir Chris Bonington; a man who seriously knows his stuff when it comes to taking to the hills.

The event isn’t centred around mountain biking but there are cycle tours and a whole host of fun activities to do such as fell walks, film screenings, trail runs and music gigs.

It will happen on Saturday the 16th of January and you can book your tickets here.

Here’s what Sir Chris Bonington, Patron of A Grand Day Out in Cumbria, had to say about the event:

“Do please come and support ‘A Grand Day Out in Cumbria’. Events will be held and hosted by communities all over the county to celebrate the resilience and spirit of our fellow Cumbrians and raise funds for the Cumbria Community Foundation’s Flood Recovery Appeal, and our Mountain Rescue Teams, who gave such wonderful support throughout the crisis. It will be a great fun day for all who attend and at the same time will help raise much needed funds to help people who find themselves in financial distress after losing their home or their business.”
