Retro frame builder shuts up shop

Riders of a certain age (ie. most of us in the Singletrack office) will be more than a bit sad to hear that iconic London framebuilders Roberts Cycles is shutting up shop.

The modern incarnation of the bike that started it all.

Roberts Cycles will be leaving their premises at Croydon after almost 30 years and taking a sabbatical from framebuilding, starting at the end of May 2015. With more than 50 years in the business, Chas Roberts will be taking a deserved break before setting up shop again – at this point we don’t have any details for where and when this might be, so for the immediate future we’ll be taking no more orders for bikes or frames.

So, if you’ve been saving for your own D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X. since you were 12 – it’s too late, you’ve missed your chance, as even the two in the clearance sale are now sold. We wish Chas all the best for his extended vacation, and look forward to seeing what he gets up to when he returns to the bike building biz.
