TweedLove gets its geek on

by 0

Not content with bringing the cream of the world’s enduro racers to the Scottish stage for round three of the 2015 Enduro World Series, the girls and guys at TweedLove HQ have been hard at work making sure there’s plenty for everyone to do – not just the racers.

The latest addition to the two-week event calendar is the TweedLove EWS Geek Zone. Running for the duration of the EWS weekend (29-31st May), it’s a talking heads/tech expo/meet-and-greet with a difference – you’ll actually have the opportunity to learn stuff from heroes of the bike industry like Tim Flooks, Kathy Sessler and Hannah Barnes, as well as ogling their bikes and kit! Well, that’s the plan, anyway. Here’s what TweedLove says about what it hopes the event will offer…

Love bikes?  REALLY love bikes?  Love all the bits that make up the whole biking experience, from suspension set up to adventuring all over the world on two wheels?  Then the TweedLove Geek Zone is for you.

Held in a marquee on Tweed Green, Peebles as part of the Enduro World Series Expo, the Geek Zone is a ticketed heaven for bike nerds, featuring talks and demos from the people inside the bike industry. Six sessions will run each day.

Highlights include Scottish bike star Hannah Barnes talking about the adventures her bike has led her on, with Tim Flooks from SRAM explaining suspension set-up, and the legendary Kathy Sessler revealing what it is like to be a pro-team manager and working with some of the biggest names in the sport. Ben Arnott from Trek will talk about life as a pro-team mechanic, while Geraint Florida James from Napier University will discuss training tips and techniques for all kinds of riders. There will be sessions on just about everything a bike geek could want to know about, plus product development, publishing and photography. Watch out for some big name special guests to be announced soon too!

Tickets for the Geek Zone will cost £15 – this includes entry to all events over the three days of 29, 30 and 31st May, making it cost as little as one pound per session to see some of the biggest names in the industry up close and in detail.

The Geek Zone is part of the TweedLove EWS expo arena where you can spot the big name riders, soak up the vibe – the world’s best riders and too many world champs to count will all be here. This event will feature a busy and exciting event HQ, right in the middle of town – check out all the bling bike kit, see the big names back at their pit areas, get something to eat or just hang out down by the River Tweed, at the buzzing centre of one the planet’s biggest bike events.
