Midweek Movies 104

by 7

The usual curator of Midweek Movies is busy sunning himself at the Lapierre press launch in Morzine this week, so the office are at the helm. We thought we’d take the opportunity to give the Singletrack staff free rein over the internet for an hour in their lunch break and this is what they came up with…

Sim:
Santa Cruz have an edit in the works, here’s a trailer from Gary Perkin:

And here is Dan Atherton on Cadair Idris:

Patrick:
Close but still off topic – monkey on a motorbike:

Strange man playing the ghostbusters theme music on Giant Singing Tesla Coils:

Jenn:
This has already been posted on the forum (join in the discussion here) but we thought it merited further coverage as a stonking example of how not to do the image of mountain bikers, and our access situation, any favours at all. Responsible access means just that: responsible access. Which this is not. Grow up, kids.

Lisa:
This is the only bike film new accounts lady Lisa has ever seen. Unsurprisingly, she likes it. However she also says she watched Kindergarten Cop last night and liked that too. Hmmm!

Mark:
We went to Mayhem. It was a bit wet. [now updated with correct, and slightly more exciting, video!]

And while we were at Mayhem, Calderdale was hit by major flooding. The office escaped, Jenn and Sim’s homes didn’t. Such is Mother Nature. We’re okay!

Chipps:
Nepalese rider Tangi Rebours has shot this lovely ten minute film about where and why he loves to ride in Nepal. If you thought Kathmandu was all giant mountains and shops selling North Face gear, think again.

And finally, the traditional cat stuck up a tree, again from Chipps:
“Le Velo” by Robin Moore. To be played loud – while wearing white Lycra…

And by the same guy… Can two million viewers be wrong? Of course they can! That’s the joy of YouTube.

    Grow up, kids.

    Hardly the moral high ground

I see TJ is guest editor this week, hence the excess of moral high ground!

Grow up kids – sorry dad! Where’s the telling off for Dan Atherton for riding with no lights on. Risky behaviour indeed…..

No sure about riding with no lights on – but why is he driving down the middle of the road?

    MC Spandex rules!

Could someone post a pic of some Moral High Ground please…

The bogtrotters seemed fairly courteous so no grievances on that front buuuuut, if you’ve just driven 8 hours or something similair to ride the ben why would you do it on a day you know will be busy. You need to slow down for folk, if your being courteous, which just takes the fun out of it. Much better to go on a weekday or very early mornning (set off from the bottom at 5am say, back for 9, 9.30am) then you can rail it all the way down. Just seems like it would be more fun than slowing all the time.
