Lee Quarry Pumptrack improvements

by 1

Trailmaking company Back-On-Track have been working to improve the already quasi-legendary pump tracks at Lee Quarry, Rossendale.

Rob Breakwell explains how they’ve added some new lines to the first pump track and mellowed out the jumps of the second to improve the flow. And then he whips around the track a few times. He’s quite handy on a bike.

The smaller of the two pumptracks will be used as part of the Saturday night entertainment at the Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender next month. The ‘pumptrack challenge’ is always an entertaining highlight. Crash ‘n’ burn!

I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.

Seeing Nick Craig wash out and go down hard on the far corner during the Pumptrack Challenge, trying not to get beaten by his son, was one of the highlights of last year for me. 🙂
