Cambrian Bike Bash and Red Kite Weekend dates set

by 7

The events calendar is filling up rapidly for the next year and Neil from Red Kit Events has sent us details of a couple of Mid-Wales mountain biking challenges for 2012:

“On the 19-20th May 2012 the Cambrian Bike Bash will take place, with two days of mountain bike riding in Llanwrtyd Wells. Each day brings a new challenge with 50km or 80km options each day. We will be using the best bits of the local area, lots of bed rock, water splashes, fast down hills, technical downhills, challenging climbs. Some of the course will be on private land so please do not ride these parts outside of the event.

The tracks will be specially marked out for the event and food stops provided. Previously this event was run as a three day event and the feedback was of a well organised event – but three days was too much. Therefore we have reduced it down to 2 days for 2012, but still keeping the feel of the event. Numbers will be limited to 750.

The Red Kite Weekend will take place on the 28-30th September 2012 and will be run by the local cycling club in partnership with Red Kite Events.

This is a guided ride with the local riders showing you the best parts of the local area, the ride will start with all the riders together and then split into separate groups depending on ability and the amount of alcohol consumed the night before! All abilities catered for and all profits going to the Welsh Air Ambulance who in turn keep us safe.

I like the sound of the Cambrian Bike Bash.

Anyone done it in previous years? What sort of vibe is it and does it include camping etc?

this is a really good event, well organised, even provided cake to people who had birthdays during the event.

really good trails, good food at the event and the camping was free last year and i assume will be this year.

really enjoyed this event last year despite the weather the organisers put on a really good show with three days of classic trails , laid back approach to riding and good atmosphere . We will be attending this event again in 2012

We used to do the red kite bash years ago great sociable event with local riders , i heard it was no longer running, is the red kite weekend the same thing

looks like the same format, lead by the local cycling club so should be a good couple of days out.

“Right then, let’s go now”……… so they disappeared into Jolly John Lloyds trail of dust/mud (delete as appropriate) !!
