Black Mountains Three Day course preview

Spring has sprung, the daffs are out and there’s just over 70 days to go until the inaugural Black Mountains 3 Day kicks off on the 1th to 3rd of July. The rider list is filling up nicely so it’s time to get your entries in and your big weekend in Wales planned. Web boy Jon has taken the plunge and will be entering all on his own to sweat and dribble his way through his home country. Here’s what the Bearded Man (Men? People?) team have to say…

“Bearded Man has been beavering away in the sunshine (and showers) to fine-tune the course detail, tirelessly cruising the valleys in search of worthy additions to the great trails that are just starting to come into condition.

The picture features somewhere in the middle of Day Two – you’ll have endured over 600m of vertical height gain in one hit to get here but the reward is a totally unexpected stretch of groomed singletrack along the ridge with massive views into the valleys below – and of course because what goes up, must come down, there’s an equally lovely descent to follow. Seeking out the best of Brecon’s riding has been an adventure for us and we’re really looking forward to sharing it with you riders come July!

We’ve also been working hard on the BM3D companion packages. If you’ve friends or family who’d like to come along and share the event’s great atmosphere but isn’t necessarily enthused by the idea of spending their day pedaling up mountains just to ride down them again, then we’ve got plenty of ideas to help them see the best bits of the area before they rejoin the weary racers in camp every evening.

Have a look at the Bearded Man blog HERE for some of the things we think they might like to see and do whilst you’re working hard on the bike – you’ll find package pricing on the event website.

There are also opportunities to pitch in with the race crew and take a part in the smooth running of the event, so if you’re thinking of volunteering then drop Bearded Man a line on info@beardedman.co.uk or register as a companion on the Black Mountains 3 Day website.
