Singletrack Sleepless In The Saddle 2011 entry now open…

singletrack sleepless in the saddle (1)This summer Sleepless In The Saddle, the UK’s friendliest and most fun 24 hour mountain bike race will return to Catton Park, Walton on Trent on the 6th and 7th of August.

All of us at Singletrack Magazine have raced, supported and sometimes heckled at the event every year since it first began in 2001. For us it’s become as much a part of the British summer as Wimbledon, gin and tonics and getting mild sunstroke under a tree.

Sleepless in the Saddles’ reputation as the most laidback of the 24hr races, perfectly fits our ethos of riding bikes for the fun, camaraderie and challenge.

That’s why for 2011, the event will now be called Singletrack Sleepless in the Saddle – we’ve decided that we’re big and grown up enough to sponsor an event all of our own and this seemed like

Sleepless in the sunshine...

the perfect fit. There will be all the same great organisation, facilities and atmosphere as previous years but this year the highlight of the summer endurance racing season will have our name on it.

The Course

Even after last year’s scorcher of an event, the Catton Park course is going to be tweaked to maximise the fun from the tight and twisting woodland singletrack, with a new course designer and the freshly resurfaced trails on hand ready to keep SITS regulars interested while still being fun for riders of all abilities.

The event is also going to be sponsored by clothing makers Endura, gear and braking component manufacturers Fibrax, rubber masters Kenda, sports nutrition specialists Science In Sport and British Cycling will be there to support the event.
