Innerleithen Mountain TT Race

Yup, time flies – the 2011 Innerleithen Mountain Bike Series has just one race to go and, after the success of the Mini Downhill and Enduro rounds, it’s time for the traditional Scottish XC season opener, the Innerleithen Mountain TT race on the 13th of March.

Mini downhill round was a success despite the slop...

The race started as the Alistair Lees Memorial TT in 2008, and the trophy will be awarded in the Vets category in his memory. To take part in the race riders will leave the start at their allotted time, at one minute intervals, and make their way around a single lap of a challenging 25km course.

The course this year takes in some new sections, has the same amount of climbing as descending, no really, and visits some old favourite tracks.

Three names are in the frame for the Men’s series title, John Young, James Shirley and Steve Larking on 33, 29 and 27 points respectively, so the best result at the TT takes it. At the moment the sensible money is on Jac Marquis for the women’s series win.
